Parent Meeting Recap

Thanks to everyone for attending the parent meeting!! For those that couldn't make it, I wanted to recap some of the topics discussed.

  • Swim meet structure has changed from an all day event for everyone to broken up into two sessions.  10 and under will swim in the morning and 11 and older will swim in the afternoon. For example, 8-12 and 1-5.  Exact times will be clarified with the larger conference as the season progresses.
  • Navy blue is our team color.  We will be running a team store, which will be up and running soon. You can purchase a suit from the team store OR purchase a navy suit on your own, if you prefer. Kelly will have a sizing kit at practice and the coaches can help swimmers pick the correct size as swimsuits size very differently than other types of clothing. Website examples to find a suit would be: Swim Outlet, Amazon, Dolfin Swimwear, Swim2000.
  • It is best to have a practice suit(any color) and a team suit (navy). Warm up's for the meets usually take place an hour or two prior to a meet actually starting.  The kids get really cold if they sit in the gym with a wet suit on and are more comfortable changing into a dry suit after warm ups. This is just a suggestion, not a requirement.
  • Swimmers need goggles. These items break more often than any other piece of equipment, so it would be a good idea to have 2 pair as the season progresses.
  •  The pool director has goggles at the pool for sale, if needed.
  • Team caps will be given to swimmers on their first day of practice.
  • No swimmers are allowed in the pool area without a coach on the pool deck for safety reasons.
  • Swim practice is closed to spectators.
  • For those who need to drop off their team fees, we do have a drop box in the pool office area.  It is to the right side of the desk on the wall. Please do not place cash in the box without an envelope. We will not be able to credit the appropriate person.
  • I did not explain the fundraising well. so here is a recap  1.Business ads: swimmers can ask area business for a minimum of a 25 dollar donation.  Business are always welcome to donate more, if they wish. Please collect a business card and turn it  in with the donation, so we can put the ad in the Home Meet  heat sheet and post it on our Swimtopia website. The business ad can also be used for a grandparent or neighbor to wish the swimmer good luck at our home meet. Please use the box on the second page to write exactly what the well wish is.
  • Fudge and popcorn sales is another fundraiser that is new to us this year but gives us more opportunity for a different type of fundraising.  Checks should be made payable to "Fun Factory Sweet Shoppe".  For every 10 bag of popcorn or 10 boxes of fudge the seller will get to pick one free bag or box themselves.
  • All fundraising information and meet schedules will be available at the pool after practice for the next few weeks, if you haven't picked them up.
  • We will need all fundraisers turned in November 30th.

Please reach out to either the coaches or board members for any questions. This is a lot of information and we are happy to answer any questions you may have. We look forward to a fun swim season!!  See you at the pool. Practice officially starts tomorrow 3:30-4:30.  As soon as I get a confirmation that we can extend our after school practice to 5:00, I will send out an email.

Sincerely,

Tomahawk Swim Board and Coaches
