Swim Meet 101
WHAT TO BRING
Tomahawk Swim Club checklist
Swim meets are all day events. Plan to be there 6-8 hours. Check in with your coach as soon as you arrive. Notify your coach if you cannot attend for any reason.
- 1 Navy swim suit
- 1 suit for warm up - good to have a spare
- 2 pairs of goggles – good to have a spare pair
- 3-4 towels – they get wet fast and don’t dry
- Warm clothes to wear between events – sweatshirts and sweatpants
- Flip flops or other shoes that slip on and off
- Robe or warmup jacket – wear between events
- 2 swim caps – they will rip
- 3-4 hair ties – they get lost
- Black sharpies – for writing events on swimmer arms
- Highlighter – to highlight events in heat sheet
- Water bottle – to stay hydrated
- Money – heat sheets and concessions
- Snacks – keep up energy
- Chairs – to sit on while waiting between events
- Blanket or sleeping bag – to sit on between events
- Games and books – to pass the time between events
- Electronics – to pass the time
- Battery chargers – there is usually 1 outlet in the gym and you will not be sitting next to it
What NOT to bring to a swim meet
- NO slime or slime-like substances. Damages walls, floors and clothing
- NO balls – there’s so many people in the gym that there’s no room to play catch or basketball
- NO hoverboards – no room to ride, danger to others
- NO drones.
